UPDATE (August 29th): Hamilton County officials announced Tuesday morning that former hometown American Idol contestant Lauren Alaina will be the headliner for this year’s revamped Hamilton County Fair.

Alaina hails from Catoosa County, was a runner-up on the 10th season of American Idol, and has since hit it big on the country music scene.

Chattanooga native, Central High School graduate and rising country music star Brandon Davis will also perform at the fair.

We interviewed him recently – and got him to perform a tune – on GMC FOX Edition. Watch below:

EARLIER:

After a hiatus of several years, it’ll soon once again be time to ‘come to the county fair’ in Hamilton County:

Hamilton County officials announced on Wednesday that the Hamilton County Fair will finally happen again, on Veterans Day weekend (Nov. 10th-12th) at the McDonald Farm in Sale Creek.

The COVID-19 pandemic cancelled it for a couple of years.

County officials had hoped the fair would return last year — but it was cancelled at the last minute due to inclement weather.

A release from Hamilton County says the upcoming fair will return with “a renewed focus on telling the story of Hamilton County and celebrating our shared future.’

Collegedale-based Little Debbie will sponsor the fair.

It will feature amusement rides, agricultural exhibits, craftsmanship, an expanded kids’ area, and live music — “both local artists and a national award-winning country music act,’ the release says.

The fair will also feature a ‘special military focus, support for Wreaths Across Chattanooga, fireworks and more,’ the release says.

Daily tickets will range from $5 to $7, with discounts for active military, veterans, emergency service personnel, and teachers.

You can buy a 3-day pass for $12, and children under 10 are free.

Here’s where you can buy tickets.

And just because we can, we’re now going to once again share this clip of “County Fair,” written and performed by Hamilton County’s first executive, the late Dalton Roberts:
