Topping our news today, from WRCB Channel 3…

The final report on the explosion at Wacker Chemie claims equipment failed and the explosion was unavoidable.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) says evidence shows the equipment failure happened on September 7 of last year just before 4:00 p.m.

The report claims it was unlikely that public health or the environment were impacted.

Since the environment and public health were not affected, the state recommended no penalties against Wacker.

Hundreds of Tennesseans will need to find another doctor to fill their pain medications. The pain management group Comprehensive Pain Specialists will close over 20 Tennessee locations.

Three of those clinics are here in the Tennessee Valley.

Patients in Cleveland calling Anesthesia Services Associates and Comprehensive Pain Specialists received a recording stating their office is closed.

The Athens and Chattanooga locations will close later this month.

If you are a patient with CPS you should talk with your primary care doctor immediately about your next step.

Channel 3 reached out to the CPS corporate office for a comment about why the sudden closures. Those inquiries haven’t been answered.

In April, the CEO was indicted on Medicare fraud. It is unclear if the charges and closures are related.
