From the Cleveland Daily Banner: Copperhill native, Petty Officer 3rd Class Larry Dyer, has been named the U.S. Navy’s 2023 Blue Jacket of the Year.
Serving with Navy Environmental Preventive Medicine Unit 6, he has been commended for his leadership and work ethic.
A 2021 Copper Basin High School graduate, Dyer joined the Navy two years ago.
Currently, he serves as a hospital corpsman.
Dyer said completing Field Medical Training is his proudest accomplishment.
Dyer sees serving in the Navy as a sacrifice for preserving freedom.
“Serving in the navy means sacrificing my own liberties to preserve the freedom of my loved ones and the American people,” he said.
