James (Jim) Cigliano, the 3rd employee hired at Cleveland State Community College, passed away on Sunday.

 

Cigliano served in many administrative roles from 1967-2005 including Director of Admissions and Records, Athletic Director, Dean of Student Personnel Services, Dean of Student Affairs, and Vice President of Student Services. Under Cigliano’s leadership, Cleveland State became the first two-year college in Tennessee to see all of its sports programs participate in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) National Tournament. He was inducted into the Tennessee Junior & Community College Athletic Association Hall of Fame, Bradley County Hall of Fame, and the Cleveland Old-Timers Hall of Fame.

 

Dr. Ty Stone, Cleveland State President, said, “Jim Cigliano was a remarkable leader who helped shape Cleveland State. He cultivated relationships with countless students, faculty, staff, and coaches, and we will miss him.”

 

Cigliano was 83.
