Cleveland City Schools say they are taking immediate action in response to an incident that was discovered yesterday.

 

 A statement released by the system read in part “Our district, like many others nationwide, is dealing with a ransomware incident. It’s important to note that this incident only affected some of the devices within our network. The majority of Cleveland City Schools devices used by our students, faculty, and staff remain operational. The affected devices constitute less than 5% of all devices connected to the network of Cleveland City Schools. We want to reassure you that sensitive information, including PowerSchool data, is secure offsite. At this time. there is no indication of any compromise to student, faculty, or parent data.”

 

Cleveland City Schools say they are conducting a thorough investigation to ensure the integrity of their information and say they are in close contact with the Cleveland City Police Department and Homeland Security to manage the situation.
