Cleveland City Council met yesterday.

It was announced at the meeting that two lanes at the Paul Huff Parkway/Mouse Creek Road intersection will be closed this evening to repair a gas line leak.

Both lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. tonight to 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Officials say while the goal is to complete the project by Wednesday morning, the lanes could be closed Wednesday night as well.

In addition to several rezoning requests, the Council voted to create a Land Bank Authority that will repurpose abandoned residential and commercial properties.

There are currently 3 Land Bank Authorities in Tennessee. They are in the cities of Oak Ridge, Chattanooga, and Memphis.

After the city council approved the Land Bank Authority back on August 28th, yesterday, they took a second vote on the ordinance and voted to submit a charter to the Tennessee Secretary of State for approval.

Once the charter is approved, the city council will appoint a board of directors.

The city will also hold several district meetings in the coming weeks. The first will be held for District 3, this Thursday, at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium of Candies Creek Cherokee Elementary School.
