The Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development released county-level unemployment data for February late last week.

 

All 95 counties showed an improved unemployment situation when compared to their revised January numbers. The decrease in unemployment across the state led each county to post rates under 5% for February.

 

Moore County had the lowest unemployment in Tennessee with a remarkable rate of 1.9%.

 

In our area, 

Bradley County’s unemployment rate fell 7-tenths of a percent to 2.9%.

 

Both Polk and McMinn County’s rates dropped an entire percentage point with Polk coming in at 2.9% and McMinn at 3.4%.

 

Rhea County’s rate fell 1.1% to 3.5.

 

Meigs County’s rate dropped 1.6% to 4.2. 

 

And Monroe County saw the sharpest drop in our area- a 1.9% decrease to bring their February unemployment rate to 2.9%.
