From our partners at Local 3 News: A Bradley County Schools substitute teacher is facing charges for assault and child abuse after an incident on April 12.
A police report says John Kern grabbed a Lake Forest Middle School student by the arms and forced him down to his seat.
Kern told police that he grabbed the student by the straps of his backpack and placed him into a chair while using foul language.
After the student complained of arm pain, the school nurse found red marks on the student’s arms.
John Kern was placed in the Bradley County Jail on a $5,000 bond.
