From the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development: Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development released the January unemployment data at the county level yesterday.
The Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for Tennessee increased to 3.5% from December’s 3.4%. During the same time period, the Seasonally Adjusted Unemployment Rate for the United States remained the same at 3.7%. The unemployment rate decreased in 1 county, increased in 93 counties, and remained the same in 1 county. Meigs County had the highest unemployment rate in the State at 5.7 percent.
Locally-
Bradley County’s unemployment rate rose 3-tenths of a percentage point to 3.6%.
Polk County rose to 3.9% from 3.5% in December.
McMinn County’s rate was 4.4%, up from 3.8%.
Rhea County rose 5-tenths of a percentage point to 4.6%
And Meigs County had the highest rate in the state at 5.7%, a jump of an entire percentage point from December’s 4.7%.
