During the last work session of the commission, County Mayor Gary Davis presented a resolution that would permit him to renew the county trustee’s lease for the next five years at its current space on Keith Street, in the old Southeast Bank location. The cost per year for the space is $48,000. Third District Commission Milan Blake made a motion and the commission passed the resolution 14-0.

Just before the county commission meeting last night, the Building and Land Committee met to discuss the building for the Bradley County Fire-Rescue Headquarters located on Inman Street.

In January of this year, the Emergency Services Committee toured the building, to evaluate the condition of the garage.

The committee recommended sending a letter to the City of Cleveland offering 60 additional days for the City to consider either a purchase or swap agreement for the building. The motion passed 14-0.

The committee will also hear an update on the fire alarm system the commission approved for the county archive building.

Second District Commissioner, Louie Alford gave a report from the Law Enforcement Committee which voted to recommend to the commission a resolution to continue the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office STEP pay raise plan indefinitely. Although the committee does not yet have the final resolution drafted yet, the resolution will be placed on the August 21st voting agenda.

The County Commission will next meet on August 14th at noon for a work session.
