UPDATE: Identities released of 2 dead in Downtown Cleveland car crash

UPDATE, 3-1-24: Early Thursday morning in Cleveland, a tragic accident claimed the lives of two men when their vehicle, a 2009 Pontiac G5,  veered past barricades and collided with construction equipment.

 

Cleveland Police Responded to a 911 call around 2:40 a.m. at Inman Street and Church Street.

 

Once on the scene, the officers discovered the two occupants of the vehicle were deceased.

 

The victims have been identified as the driver, Michael Slater, 24, and the passenger, Tanner Ratcliff, 26.

 

Authorities suspect alcohol was involved.

 

The Cleveland Police Department Crash Team is actively investigating the incident.

 


 

According to the Cleveland Police Department (CPD), on Feb. 29 at approximately 2:40 a.m., officers with the CPD responded to the area of Inman Street and Church Street in reference to a 911 open line.

 

Officers checked the area and located a vehicle that had driven past the barricades and struck a large piece of construction equipment.

 

The vehicle was occupied by two males, both were pronounced deceased at the scene.

 

Names of the victims will not be released at this time due to pending notification of next of kin.

 

The crash is still under investigation by the CPD Crash Team.
