At the January 2023 VEC Customers Share Board meeting, local organizations in Bradley and Polk counties were awarded $4,000 in grants.

Organizations receiving funds are:

  • Polk County High School Alumni Association — $1,000
  • Happy Hearts Seniors — $1,000
  • Cleveland Family YMCA — $900
  • Salvation Army – Bradley and Polk counties — $900
  • Lake Forest Middle School Baseball Team — $200

Founded in October 2001, VEC Customers Share is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization. The organization has donated more than $7.5 million to various community-service organizations across its 17-county service area.

The program’s funds come from VEC members who have opted to round their electric bills up to the next whole dollar. VEC Customers Share individual customer contributions average a little more than $5.00 per year. The extra change is collected monthly and distributed by a volunteer board of directors representing each service area.
