From NewsChannel 9: Multiple agencies are involved in a law enforcement pursuit overnight Thursday that led to gunfire.

The man at the center of the chase is recovering in the hospital after being hit by gunfire from pursuing deputies from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office.

His name nor the deputy or deputies that were involved have been released at this time.

He is said to be suffering from a gun shot wound that is non-life threatening.

In a press release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office it all started with a vehicle pursuit about midnight.

It went from the 7300 block of Lee Highway and ended on the bridge in the 6000 block of Shallowford Road just west of Stein Drive in Chattanooga.

The release said one male suspect was involved in a deputy involved shooting but they did not give details on what occurred.

The car was facing the opposite direction of travel when NewsChannel9 arrived on scene.

Investigators were spotted combing over the car at the scene for about five hours Thursday morning.

A tow truck removed the car from the scene just before five A.M. and shortly after the road was opened to thru traffic.

Hamilton County District Attorney Coty Wamp has directed the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) to conduct the investigation into the facts of this morning’s incident.
