From the Chattanoogan: Lee University will hold the highly anticipated annual Classic Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 3. This festive concert for the entire family will take place at 3 p.m. in the Conn Center.

“Classic Christmas is such a special event here on the Lee University campus and in the life of the School of Music,” said Dr. Cameron Weatherford, Classic Christmas director and assistant professor of choral music. “We look forward to some wonderful programming, including guest artist Full Effect, to mesmerize us with their talents. The combination of the variety of musicians, musical selections, and décor help kick off the Christmas season so beautifully.”

Guests are invited to hear and sing along to beloved Christmas songs, including “O Come All Ye Faithful,” “Mary Did You Know,” and “Silent Night,” among other holiday favorites.

Classic Christmas will welcome Full Effect, who will perform alongside Lee’s music ensembles, including Lee Orchestra, directed by Dr. Régulo Stabilito; Lee University Chorale, directed by Dr. William Green, School of Music dean; Choral Union and Ladies of Lee, both directed by Cameron Weatherford; and Jazz Ensemble, directed by Alan Wyatt.

Full Effect is a barbershop quartet comprising Lee alumni Andrew Easterling, Caleb Hayes, and Wyatt McCarter, alongside Brett Beard. Winners of the Next Generation Barbershop Quartet Championship at the Barbershop Harmony Society International Contest, the group performs both locally and regionally.

“What makes Classic Christmas even more unique is that all the texts and music played is performed through the lens of the Gospel and the great mystery that is Jesus coming to earth as a babe to rescue us from sin,” said Dr. Weatherford. “So, in response we sing ‘O come, all ye faithful.’”

Bank of Cleveland, the only locally owned and operated bank in Cleveland/Bradley County, joins Lee in sponsoring this year’s Classic Christmas for the fifth year.
