From Local 3 News: UPDATE: Chattanooga police are investigating a shooting near a school in the Glenwood area on Tuesday afternoon.

 

It happened around 2:30pm in the 2700 block of Vermont Avenue near Notre Dame High School.

 

Police say they arrived at the scene to find one person with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The unidentified victim was taken to a local hospital.

 

Police say several places, including Notre Dame High and CHI Memorial, were placed on lockdown to allow officers to make sure the area was safe.

 

Police say they are working to learn what led to the shooting.

Chattanooga police say they, along with several other agencies, are responding to a report of shots being fired near Notre Dame High School.

 

According to the 911 call log, Chattanooga police were called to the 2700 blocks of both Vermont and Parkwood Avenues around 2:30pm.

 

As a result of CPD’s response, a CHI Memorial spokesperson says the hospital was placed on lockdown, which was later lifted.

 

A Notre Dame High spokesperson says the school was also placed on lockdown at around 2:30pm and that no students or NDHS community members were involved in the incident.

 

Notre Dame High students were ultimately sent home, according to an email update received by Local 3, shortly after 4:00pm.
