The City Council met on Monday.

 

Lawrence Armstong, President of the Bradley County NAACP spoke to the council on issues he raised about City hiring practices and employee treatment during the September 25th meeting of the City Council. Armstrong told Council members Monday that recent meetings with City officials have been productive, but that there is additional work to be done in his opinion. Here is part of what Armstrong had to say during the meeting.

 

During the City Manager’s report, Joe Fivas

Announced that after an appeal, the 2020 US Census for the City has been updated to add 420 people.

 

Fivas also discussed that the City is in the final stages of paving the Mouse Creek Road and Paul Huff intersection. Citizens can expect periodic closures Wednesday-Friday as crews finish the project.

 

Mayor Kevin Brooks presented Lucy Rymer and the Museum at Five Points with a proclamation for National Arts and Humanities Month.

 

The next City Council meeting will be held on Monday, November 13, 2023.
