From Local 3 News: Several businesses in Downtown Copperhill were without water at the start of Monday, January 22. Many of which had to close as a result.

Sarah Berry owner of Copperhill Brewing says the closure will impact her business.

“It is a Monday, it’s a little quiet in the area, and we are not running our normal business today,” said Berry.

The city’s Water Supervisor Todd Dilbeck says the cause is because of several water leaks in the city’s pipe.

“One thing that we are up against is the ground froze so hard. When we do find this leak it’s going to be difficult to get to. I’m afraid it could be under a sidewalk or asphalt. It could be across the river, we just don’t know,” said Dilbeck.

He says crews have been working around the clock to locate where each leak is, “We’re working as hard as we can we worked Saturday night and Sunday and were back at it today,” said Dilbeck.

He says businesses could be without water for the next 24/48 hours.

In the meantime, he suggests folks purchase water from their local grocery store, which Tonya Davis, a cashier at IGA, says she’s already seeing.

“I think I’ve probably sold like 15-20 gallons of water,” said Davis.

The city issued a boil water warning Monday morning, advising residents to not drink the water without boiling (and cooling) it first.

The warning explained that line breaks are being repaired but they are still activinely looking for leaks to be repaired and restore water pressure.

Once the water system repairs are completed, bacteriological tests will be conducted throughout the system.

Once the tests show no bacteria, residents will be notified and the boil water order will be lifted.
