The County Commission met yesterday.

Commissioners learned that the County will receive daily air monitoring reports for the County Landfill. The reports will be delivered at 6 am daily to the county and to landfill officials. A link will be placed on the county website in the future to collect and track odor complaints. Commissioners voted 13-0 in favor of a resolution authorizing Bradley County Mayor, Gary Davis to enter into an extension of the monitoring services agreement with Envirosuite for an additional year term at a cost of $70,020.

Bradley County has received a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting once again.  The government finance officer association has bestowed the certificate upon the county for the 19th consecutive year.

The Commissioners unanimously passed a resolution requesting the governor of Tennessee and the TN General Assembly to stand with Israel.

The Commission unanimously passed a resolution authorizing Mayor Davis to enter into an annexation interlocal agreement between the City of Cleveland and Bradley County regarding the non-contiguous annexation of the property currently owned by Larry and Nancy Eskew on the corner of Georgetown Road and Eureka Road. The Eskews addressed the commissioners last week and said the opportunity to have the property hooked up to the city’s sewer would help the land sell for commercial purposes in the future.

Ray and Rex Calfee were hoping the county commission would vote differently than the planning commission, who, in October, voted against rezoning their 90 acres of land from Forestry Agricultural Residential to a General Industrial District. The Planning Commission says they denied the request for not falling within the scope of the Bradley County Comprehensive Plan. The Commissioners voted 5 for the rezoning and 8 against. The property will not be rezoned.

The next meeting of the County Commission will be a Work Session on December 4th at 7 pm.
