We were joined on the phone by State Senator Adam Lowe to talk about the recent passage of “Dillard’s Law” Senate Bill 0442.
Senate Bill 0442, sponsored by State Senator Adam Lowe, passed the Tennessee Senate yesterday.
Known as ‘Dillard’s Law,’ and named after Brittany and Dustin Dillard, the Cleveland couple killed in the Christmas Day accident on Waterlevel Highway, allows the surviving parent or guardian of a child whose parent was a victim of vehicular homicide to convert a restitution order for child maintenance payments to a civil judgment at any time rather than having to wait until the conclusion of the defendant’s sentence. The companion bill in the House is still in the Committee process.
