From News Channel 9: A 13-year-old and 3 other young people face charges after authorities say they led deputies on a chase in a stolen Kia from Collegedale to Catoosa County, Georgia Thursday morning.

Collegedale Police notified Hamilton County dispatchers they noticed the stolen white KIA using their automatic license plate readers near Standifer Gap Road and Camp Road, according to a release from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO).

After a few minutes, the vehicle was spotted near the 7700 block of Standifer Gap Road.

Deputies tried to stop the vehicle, but the driver hit the gas, and deputies began a pursuit.

That chase happened down Interstate 75 into Catoosa County, with the driver getting off the interstate and back on several times, before hitting a curb and puncturing the right front tire.

The vehicle eventually came to a stop at the 347 mile marker.

4 juveniles were taken into custody by HCSO deputies, Catoosa County Sheriff’s deputies and teh Georgia State Patrol.

That’s when they learned the driver was just 13 years old.

They also learned one of the juveniles in the car had an upcoming court hearing for a previous auto theft charge.

The mother of one of the juveniles had trouble getting a ride to the arrest scene, so HCSO deputies went to her home and gave her a ride so she could take her child into custody.

Each of the juveniles will be charged with theft over $10,000. The 13-year-old driver will also be charged with felony evading.
