Bradley County Schools is encouraging local residents to dust off their unused music instruments so they can be placed into the hands of children and teens learning to play.

Between now and Aug. 1, the district is hosting the Tennessee State of the Arts Grant Instrument Drive. Gently-used band, orchestra or starter instruments can be donated at Bradley County Schools’ central office at 800 South Lee Highway.

This drive comes after the school district received a $124,000 State of the Arts Grant from the Tennessee Department of Education in partnership with the Country Music Association Foundation. Goals for the grant include improving music offerings and students’ access to musical instruments.

People are encouraged to donate instruments even if they are in need of minor repairs. A portion of the grant funding has been set aside for repairs.
