A 17-year-old was arrested in connection with the sexual assault that occurred at Lee University on Sunday, October 7th. The male juvenile was charged with Aggravated Rape. Thanks to a collective effort between the Cleveland Police investigators, Lee University Campus Security and the District Attorney’s Office, the suspect was swiftly identified, located and arrested.

On the final day of voter registration on Tuesday, the Bradley County Election Commission office was slammed with new voter registrations. The final day to register to vote for the November 6 election saw nearly 300 people register to vote online, with more to come by mail. What was described by some officials as an avalanche of new voter registrations state wide was begun in part by singer Taylor Swift talking about registering to vote in Tennessee on her social media platforms. We will know the full scope of new voter registrations when all are counted by the end of this week. Early voting begins in Tennessee next Wednesday.

Autumn Hughes reports A Bradley County Sheriff’s Office employee is free on $10,000 bond following his arraignment on Monday morning in Bradley County General Sessions Court. His next court date is Oct. 16.
Cody Carrington, a BCSO corrections officer, was arrested on Friday night and charged with aggravated domestic assault, sexual assault and interfering with an emergency call.
According to the BCSO incident report, the victim told deputies she and Carrington were having marital problems and she had been staying with her mother. However, “she came back to the residence to stay the night and see how things went with Mr. Carrington.”
The report states the victim received a text message from a male sometime during the night and Carrington read it, “got mad and left the residence because of the text message on her phone.”
When Carrington returned, he allegedly started yelling at the woman and calling her inappropriate names. He allegedly took all the phones so the victim couldn’t call 911; he also broke the house phone and threw it outside where deputies later found it, reports said.
Carrington then assaulted the victim, and left the residence.
After his arrest, Carrington was held in isolation at the Bradley County Jail, and has been suspended without pay until the matter is resolved. Carrington was reportedly hired by the BCSO in January 2017.
