Bradley County Sheriff-Elect Steve Lawson has convened a transition team and tasked them with assisting him in preparation to take over the Department in September. The group comprised of law enforcement leaders from around the area met for the first time to discuss Lawson’s goals for the group.
Lawson, stated his purpose for the group was “Preparing to lead day on one”. The group was charged with providing honest feedback, advice, and direction for the recently elected Lawson. He will face no opposition on August 2nd as the Republican Nominee for Bradley County Sheriff. Each member was selected by Lawson, who will rely on their recommendations concerning top staffing choices, policy, and budget issues. Lawson expressed his appreciation to the group for serving, and welcomed their expertise, while at the same time explaining “the final decision rests with me.”
The step of implementing a transition team was not meant only to plan and prepare for his future administration. Lawson also hopes this move further solidifies the commitment he made to the citizens of Bradley County during the campaign.
Lawson and the team will meet on a regular basis between now and when he takes office in September. Hiring decisions and major policy announcements will not take place until after the August 2nd General Election.

The Bradley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a report of a missing juvenile who is a voluntary runaway.
Braden Lineberry, who is a 16 year old male, lives in the McDonald area in Bradley County, TN. The last sighting of Lineberry was on May 16, 2018 and was wearing khaki shorts, blue shirt with grey stripes, and red Jordan tennis shoes. Lineberry is 5’11” tall, weighs 200 lbs., and has brown hair and blue eyes.
Investigators are actively attempting to locate the juvenile and request that anyone with information about his whereabouts contact Detective Brandon Edwards at (423) 728-7336 or send an anonymous tip via text message through the agency’s tip 411 mobile app.
An anonymous tip via text message can be sent to the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office by texting the keyword BRADLEYSO and YOUR MESSAGE to 847411.
While no criminal conduct has been revealed in the early stages of the investigation, the sheriff’s office will consider interference with the custody should evidence support someone harboring the missing juvenile.

The May 1 Bradley County Primary Election has come and gone, but some campaign signs remain along local roadways. While most of those signs may be for candidates whose names are on the Aug. 2 and Nov. 6 election ballots, there are still a few left over from candidates whose races ended in May.
So who’s responsible for taking down the no-longer relevant campaign signs?
According to state law, candidates “shall be responsible for the removal of any signs, posters, or placards advocating their candidacy, which have been placed on highway rights-of-way or other publicly owned property.”
Tennessee Code Annotated 2-1-116 states that “the removal of such materials shall be accomplished within a reasonable period of time following the election, not to exceed three weeks.”
The May 1 election was six weeks ago.
While state law directs candidates to remove their signs, TCA 2-1-116 specifies that “this section shall not be construed as being penal in nature. There shall be no punitive measures taken against a candidate or workers if all signs are not removed.”
Bradley County Administrator of Elections Fran Green confirmed that her office wouldn’t have the authority to enforce compliance with state law regarding the removal of campaign signs.
