Tim Siniard reports: The city of Cleveland has been awarded a $1.4 million grant from the Tennessee Department of Transportation to complete Phase 6 of the Cleveland/Bradley County Greenway.

The announcement was made by Cleveland City Manager Joe Fivas Monday during the Cleveland City Council’s work session at the Municipal Building.

Fivas said the city will be responsible for 20% of the cost to complete Phase 6, which will run from Willow Street to Inman Street.

Phase 6 of the greenway will be the next step in connecting the city’s system of pathways to its downtown.

Tim Siniard reports: Cleveland Mayor Emeritus Tom Rowland was appointed to the Cleveland Municipal Airport Authority by the Cleveland City Council on Monday, replacing current board member Lynn DeVault who has resigned.

DeVault was first appointed to the local Airport Authority in 2004, serving  three times as chairperson.

He will finish out DeVault’s term, which ends next month.

Autumn Hughes reports: Bradley County Trustee Mike Smith has presented a financially positive annual report to the Bradley County Commission.

Speaking during Monday’s County Commission meeting, Smith reviewed the 2018-19 fiscal year as it relates to the Trustee’s Office.

Smith said he appreciates the support from County Mayor D. Gary Davis and the County Commission, as well as their good working relationship.
