The Cleveland Daily Banner- Today, schools across the city of Cleveland and Bradley County, along with other sites, could be packed with local voters

The Cleveland Daily Banner- Today, schools across the city of Cleveland and Bradley County, along with other sites, could be packed with local voters casting ballots for their favorite candidates in several races. However, with the number who have participated in early voting, officials are unsure if it will be a busy Tuesday or not. As we have reported, Nearly 28,000 voted early over the last few weeks leading up to election day. That total was thought to be a record turnout, but it could prove that having more people vote early will affect the number of those who vote today. Bradley County Administrator of Elections Fran Green said ““We have had 43 percent of our registered voters participate in early voting, but the others who did not vote early need to let their voices be heard as well.” In Bradley County, the presidential election appears on all ballots, but other races may be on some ballots and not on others, due to the division of districts. These other races include the U.S. House of Representative 3rd District seat, the U.S. House of Representatives 4th District seat, 10th District State Senate position, and Tennessee House of Representatives 22nd and 24 District seats. Voting precincts will be the same as they have been all year, with the only significant change this year being the move from the old Blythe Avenue Elementary School to the Museum Center at Five Points. There will be no classes in the Bradley County Schools on Tuesday, as it is a stockpiled staff development day for teachers. Cleveland City Schools will also have a staff development day on Tuesday, so students will have an off day from school. The polls will be open on Election Day, Tuesday, from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. The other 16 precincts are McDonald (voting site: McDonald Ruritan Club), Prospect (Prospect Elementary?School), Hopewell (Hopewell Elementary School), E.L. Ross (E.L. Ross Elementary School), Walker Valley (Walker Valley High School), Lee University (Administration Building), Senior Center, Oak Grove (Oak Grove Elementary School), Michigan Avenue (Michigan Avenue Elementary School), Blythe-Bower (Blythe-Bower Elementary School), Valley View (Valley View Elementary School), Blue Springs (old Blue Springs Elementary School gymnasium) , Waterville (Waterville Elementary School), Black Fox (Black Fox Elementary School), Stuart (Stuart Elementary School), and Cleveland High School. Channel 3- UPDATE: In a press conference on Monday, Interim Superintendent, Dr. Kirk Kelly asked three members of the Hamilton County Board of Education to withdraw a motion to name him the superintendent and instead, go through the search firm the board previously selected. The same process as any other candidate would go through if selected as superintendent. “I welcome the opportunity to continue this new direction as the superintendent. However, I respect the wished of other board members to conduct a search to find the best-qualified candidate, which I believe to be myself. I look forward to presenting my vision and plan for the future of our system to the school board, the search committee and the community in the weeks to come,” Dr. Kelly said. Dr. Kelly said he has been heartened by the feedback he has received both inside and outside the school system to the new direction he and his staff implemented. Channel 3- A Cleveland teen battling bone cancer doesn’t ask for much. She wants to live a normal life, play sports and socialize with friends. In order to make that happen, she’s had to endure several surgeries and chemotherapy to help kill the cancer. But she also has another wish. One that was granted to her for just one day. Emma Cummings is only 13-years-old. She’s spending her first year as a teenager recovering from her latest round of chemotherapy. “I’ve always just really just wanted to feel glamorous for a little bit,” Emma said, “Cancer’s got nothing on me, I can do this.” Princess Emma is one of a kind. She is a princess who will not be wearing a wig. Instead of covering it up, Emma will embrace it. She’s promoting her own slogan “Bald is Beautiful” during her photo shoot – to let others know you can still be beautiful while fighting cancer. Emma was invited to a home on Lookout Mountain for her special photo shoot. She had her make up done by a professionally by SpaGo, and she was photographed in the hand-picked dress of her dreams give to her by Monica’s Bridal. Melissa and Chris Cummings have had to watch their daughter struggle. They’ve had to watch her sit out her eighth grade year at Ocoee Middle School. Check out her video on Channel 3 website.
