Despite adapting its approach to producing shows in hopes of “keeping the doors open” and employees getting a regular paycheck, Friends of the Festival, the organization that produces the Riverbend Festival, reduced its staff from seven to two Monday.

The move was made in order to streamline operations with the hope of surviving as an organization in order to present a “different festival” in the future, according to board chair Mary Kilbride.

She said Friends of the Festival has enough money in reserve to launch a new festival at a later date, and the goal going forward is to figure out how that might work.

For the safety of players, coaches, and the opposing teams, the wrestling team at Cleveland High School has cancelled all matches and practices until December 4th, due to COVID-19 related issues. Following the guidelines set forth by the Tennessee Department of Health and the TSSAA, contact tracing at the school will take place and anyone in close contact with the players and/or coaches will be notified. The school system is in contact with the Bradley County Health Department and will take the steps necessary to protect the health of our students and staff. They are closely monitoring this situation and will provide updates, as needed.

In the Monday Facebook post, the decision was “based on an abundance of caution for the welfare of our staff, our citizens, and our inmates. No COVID cases have so far been detected among inmates inside the jail.”

Inmate visitation has also been suspended.
