Students wishing to receive meals while on virtual learning can do so Tuesday through Thursday from 10:00 am-12:00 pm at the Walker Valley Food Truck, located in the Food City parking lot (Ocoee Crossing location). Students will receive breakfast and lunch each day. Parents/Guardians may pick up the meals, and students do not have to be present

In news today…

The Cleveland City Council voted 7-0 to file a court case in Chancery Court against the State Certificate of Need Board to object to the lack of public notice on a controversial drug treatment center on Keith Street. The City believes they violated the public notice provisions in state law.  Basically, the City didn’t get proper notice which would have given local residents and officials voice their concerns and questions about this facility.

Also passed was a motion to approve renaming the golf course. The new name has yet to be determined. The vote, which passed 7-0, begins the renaming process.

Also in news today…

Barbara Ector has been named the East Tennessee Assistant Principal of the Year by TN Association of Secondary School Principals. Ms. Ector is now a finalist for Tennessee Assistant Principal of the Year which will be announced in December.

Mrs. Ector spent close to 25 years in the middle school classroom, where she taught Social Studies. Her accolades in the classroom prepared her for a rich administrative career. In 2011, she was named the principal of The Denning Center, our district’s alternative school. In 2017, the school board voted to close the separate school and move the alternative program under the umbrella of Cleveland High School. Mrs. Ector continued her work with our most at-risk students as the Dean of Students. She has spent the past two years as our administrator over Community Relations and 12th Grade. She was most recently named Vice Principal, which serves as second-in command over staff-relations and fine arts, in addition to her work with seniors.

And finally…

This resolution was placed on the voting agenda for next week. Reports from the election commission indicated record turnouts for Bradley County, and noted that the results will be certified on Wednesday at 1PM.
