The Bradley County Commission met Monday to discuss several items. The finance committee approved removing PIE Center funding from the tax increase. Instead, school board funding will initially be used for the PIE Center. Starting in 2020, the budgets will have funding for the PIE Center included.
The tax increase will be 7.36% for property owners within the city limits, 10.69% for those in the county but on the outskirts of the city, and 12.28% for rural Bradley County areas. The higher amount for county areas is due to fire service coverage.

The inmate accused of walking out of Erlanger Medical Center is facing new charges Monday night.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office charged Anthony Bell with escape from penal institution, burglary, two counts of vandalism and two counts of theft of property, according to the county court docket.
Chief deputy Austin Garrett with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s office says Bell was found in Hamilton County, off of North Germantown Road.
Even though Bell is in custody, Garrett says there are still plenty of questions needing to be answered.
Bell was taken into custody without any trouble.

Tim Siniard reports: The Cleveland City Council on Monday took a first step in its goal to provide free internet access to the downtown area when it voted to appoint local technology business owner Jeff Cocks as the first member of the Wi-Fi Task Force.
The Council also considered other nominations placed by its members during its regularly scheduled meeting at the Municipal Building.
The task force will include two staff members of the Cleveland City government, appointed by City Manager Joe Fivas; two members of Cleveland Utilities, appointed by CU President and CEO Tim Henderson; two members from the public appointed by the City Council; and one member from the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce, appointed by the Chamber President Mike Griffin.
