From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

The Bradley County Trustee’s Office is getting a new, permanent home; at least, for the next five years.

In a recent action, the Bradley County Commission approved a resolution calling for Mayor D. Gary Davis to enter into a five-year lease agreement on property now being used by the Trustee’s Office at 1701 Keith St. N.W.

The property will also be used by the Bradley County Clerk’s Office.

Trustee Mike Smith and his team have been using the old bank branch facility since the fire closed down the Bradley County Courthouse for a period of time.

The accessibility of the Keith Street location, and the utilization of drive-through opportunities, have been highly praised by the mayor’s office, county commissioners, Smith and his staff, as well as city and county residents.

The ability to conveniently wait on customers has been much greater on Keith Street than at the former office location enclosed in the courthouse.

The mayor said the trustee’s former office space in the courthouse will be used for much-needed expansion of the county’s judicial services. The space on the first floor of the courthouse will be used for needs and expansion of Circuit and/or General Sessions courts.

A self-made historian, storyteller, and former public official died Sunday in his sleep.
