In news today…

A Bradley County school bus was involved in a minor accident on Old Parksville Rd. Monday evening. Students were on the bus but no injuries were reported. Officials with Bradley County schools tell us another bus arrived on the scene and transported all children safely to their homes.

On Monday, Bradley County School officials announced that all schools in the district will transition to virtual learning on December 15, due to the rapid rise in COVID-19 case numbers.

A press release from the school system says all students in the district will move to virtual learning from December 15-18.

Students who wish to receive meals while on virtual learning Tuesday-Thursday can do so at their respective school from 10 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The Cleveland community is mourning the passing of Captain Dustin Samples of the Cleveland Fire Department (CFD).

CFD says Captain Samples honorably served the city for over 22 years, and was assigned to Engine Company 5.

The Cleveland Police Department joined the fire department in their grief, saying in a statement that Dustin Samples was the husband of one of their own, Officer Jennifer Samples.

Captain Samples will be honored on Friday, Dec. 18 with a funeral procession leaving Companion Funeral Home on Georgetown Road beginning at 3 p.m., and proceeding to First Baptist Church on Stuart Road.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church from 4 to 6 p.m., with a Celebration of Life service following the visitation.
