In news today…

While summer weather continues in our area, summer vacation for area students does not. Today marks the first day of school for both Cleveland City and Bradley County Schools. Cleveland City Schools first full day of classes is today. Bradley County Schools are on an abbreviated schedule for today, with the first full day of classes beginning tomorrow.

As you are traveling during the before and after school time periods, please be mindful of school zones and school buses in the area.

In news today…

There will be a planned power outage from 9AM to noon today in the South Bradley County area including parts of Tunnel Hill Road, Rakestraw Road, and Candies Creek Road. It also includes part of Old Alabama Road and Old Johnson Road. If you are part of the outage and VEC has your current phone number you will be notified by phone today. Crews will be upgrading equipment that can not be completed safely with lines energized.

A death investigation is underway in McMinn County.

A TBI spokesperson says a body has been found in the 700 block of Tennessee Avenue.

A crew at the scene says the body was found behind Piggly Wiggly.

TBI agents and Etowah police are working to identify the body.

The cause of death is under investigation.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is asking for help in locating Michael Baker.

They say Baker has outstanding warrants in Polk County in connection with a vandalism at Archville Baptist Church in the Greasy Creek area.
