From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson lashed out at an article that appeared in Sunday’s edition of the Chattanooga Times Free Press with a headline alleging the sheriff had gone on a “two-state manhunt for wife’s bail skip.”

The article reported Watson had “embroiled more than a dozen law enforcement officers in a multistate manhunt for one of [the sheriff’s wife’s] bail skips.”

In the statement released to the Cleveland Daily Banner Monday morning, Watson derides both the Chattanooga newspaper and reporter Judy Walton, who Watson claims “have fabricated and sensationalized so many facts in numerous stories about me and the Bradley County Sheriff’s Office.”

The Cleveland Daily Banner attempted to reach Alison Gerber, editor and director of content of the Chattanooga Times Free Press, for comment.

Gerber had not responded by press deadlines.

TVA is preparing for the largest blackout in years.

It will not be caused by any technical failures, but by the design of Mother Nature.

That event would be the total solar eclipse which will occur Aug. 21.

With about 200 million people living within a day’s drive of the path of the total eclipse across the country, tens of thousands of people are expected to descend on the Tennessee Valley in order to view the first of its kind in 99 years.

“The experts at TVA are looking around to ensure their public sites are ready to handle the expected crowds,” said TVA spokesperson Scott Fiedler.

He added TVA has plans in place to address public safety, restrooms and litter control.

While many TVA campgrounds are already booked, there are plenty of free TVA sites and Tennessee state parks where visitors can see the eclipse.

For the best view of the total eclipse, Fouse recommends the following TVA locations: Fontana, Tellico, Fort Loudon and Watts Bar.
