From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

The addition of a new truck is making life a bit easier for Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland.

The organization was able to purchase the truck two months ago thanks to a $10,000 donation from Wacker Polysilicon North America. The 16-foot box truck was sent off to be wrapped with the organization’s logo just two weeks ago, and was officially unveiled within the last few days.

Mary Beth Hudson, vice president for Wacker Polysilicon and site manager for the Charleston location, was impressed with how the new truck looked and was glad that Wacker was able to help.

According to ReStore manager Michelle Haas, the addition of the truck has been a tremendous help.

Things are now more efficient for the organization and Habitat is able to double its pick-ups now. Haas added that since Habitat purchased the truck, it has been out on 150 different donation pick-ups.

In news today…

Athens Federal Community Bank, N.A.  is one of only 75 institutions in the nation named “Best Banks to Work For” in 2017.

The Best Banks to Work For program, which was initiated in 2013 by American Banker and Best Companies Group, identifies, recognizes and honors U.S. banks for outstanding employee satisfaction.

Determining the Best Banks to Work For involves a two-step process. The first step involves an evaluation of participating companies’ workplace policies, practices, and demographics. In the second step, employee surveys are conducted to directly assess the experiences and attitudes of individual employees with respect to their workplace. The combined scores determine the top banks and the final ranking.

The program is open to commercial banks, thrifts, savings banks and other chartered retail financial institutions with at least 50 employees in the United States.

The Cleveland Daily Banner reports…

The Department of Service-Learning at Cleveland State Community College and GRAAB Coalition (Going Respectively Against Addictive Behaviors) will be co-sponsoring the eighth Annual “Make a Difference Now” Volunteer Expo on Wednesday, Sept. 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium on Cleveland State’s campus.

The theme of this event, “Make a Difference Now,” centers on Cleveland State’s desire to give students the opportunity to become civically engaged in their community by learning more about various agencies in the surrounding areas and finding out how they can become involved. This expo allows students, faculty, and community participants to browse and interact with community agencies on an informal basis.

Agencies wishing to register as participants, or for more information about the “Make a Difference Now” Expo, contact Sherry Holloway at 423-473-2385 or email her at sholloway@clevelandstatecc.edu. This event is open to the public so that anyone in the community can learn about agencies and their programs, as well as how to volunteer. Visitors attending the event may park anywhere on campus that is not reserved.
