From WRCB Channel 3…

The United Auto Workers union will hold a vote next month on its representation of all hourly workers at Volkswagen’s plant in Chattanooga.

The union said the National Labor Relations Board decided Wednesday that the vote will take place June 12th, 13th and 14th. The board dismissed a previous petition for a vote on a technicality.

Volkswagen has said it is neutral on the issue of unionization. But it steadfastly refused to bargain with UAW after the union won representation of maintenance workers at the plant in 2015. The German automaker has argued the bargaining unit needed to include production workers as well.

According to the union, the proposed new bargaining unit would encompass about 1,700 workers at the plant.

The Polk County Sheriff’s Office has released the name of the 25-year-old who drowned in the Ocoee River.

Rondez J. Mee of Cleveland was walking along the river and fell into the water. His friends tried to rescue him but were not able to get him out of the water.

According to the Deputy EMA Director Wes Davis in Polk County this is the ninth rescue that they’ve been called to. Three of those have resulted in death, and they’re still searching for the fisherman who went missing back in February.

Rescuers found his body around 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, roughly 250 yards from where he fell in.
