TOSHA released its findings Wednesday on the cause of the September 7, 2017, explosion at Wacker.

The explosion resulted in a temporary shutdown of the Wacker plant for repairs.

A Wacker spokesperson said the release of both the September 7th, 2017 and August 30th, 2017 reports brings closure to the TOSHA investigations. Wacker remains on the path to restart in the near future.

Mary Beth Hudson, Vice President Polysilicon, Site Manager-Charleston released a statement including the following:

“We have learned that the September 7 incident resulted from a mechanical failure with equipment in our hydrogen recovery building. A new piston, part of an upgraded compressor design purchased last year, fractured, resulting in the release of hydrogen that ignited. To restart the plant, we will be returning to our original compressor design that has operated safely for decades at WACKER sites and many other global companies. We are confident that a return to the original compressor design together with the adoption of other preventative measures will ensure a safe restart of our Charleston plant.

At WACKER, we are continually working to ensure the safety of our site, our team members, our community, and our environment. We are committed to providing safe and secure jobs in our community.”

Batman, the Dark Knight of Gotham City, skulks about in the shadows, blending in and fighting crime by night, only to slink away to Wayne Manor and into his alter ego, Bruce Wayne, during the day. Batman “shouldn’t wish to attract any attention” in public as he says in the 1960s “Batman” TV show.

However, from Thursday through Saturday, Batman is peeling back his veil of secrecy, ever so slightly, by allowing the famous Batmobile featured in the show to be on display at the Cleveland Buy Here Pay Here USA, at 440 3rd St. S.W.

The Batmobile will be making an appearance at the other Buy Here Pay Here USA locations in the area, in Chattanooga before appearing in Cleveland, in Dalton, Georgia, from March 15-17 and finally at the Dayton location, from March 22-24. Bring your children out to experience the excitement of seeing the Caped Crusader’s ride up close and personal. Take some photos with the car and it’s even been said that Batman and Robin might make an appearance.
