Bradley County Schools announced schools will reopen and in-person classes will resume on August 5.

The school system said most operations will be normal with additional precautions in place amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

With the announcement, the school system noted the situation can change at any time and additional guidance will be forthcoming.

BCS released a communication timeline outlining the school system’s plans before the start of the school year:

  • Late June: Reopening School Survey Results and COVID Reopening Update released for weekly publication
  • Early July: Finalized School Reopening Plan and Protocols released
  • Mid-to-late July: COVID Reopening Toolboxes released along with a video series on the safe reopening of schools
  • August 5: First day of school

Dave & Buster’s Chattanooga location has temporarily closed on Wednesday due to COVID-19.

According to the arcade’s Facebook page, the closing happened because “an individual” at the location tested positive for COVID-19.

The post says the business has notified the health department and is working with health officials in order to safely reopen.

No date has been given for the reopening at this time.

The city of Athens was on a bear hunt of sorts on Wednesday.

Multiple residents reported seeing a black bear running through their neighborhoods.

The sightings were in the middle of town, behind the county 911 center.

City officials called in TWRA agents to assist, but no report of a capture at this point.
