From WDEF Channel 12…

The Tennessee Board of Nursing (TBN) has lifted its sanction on the Cleveland State Community College Nursing Program.

According to a press release from the college, the decision was made at the TBN board meeting in Nashville on Wednesday and means the Nursing program is now able to accept summer and fall students.

The release says the program has not been able to accept students since last summer.

Cleveland State says the decision was based on the college’s first-time pass rate of more than 85 percent in 2017. A federal grant allowed the Nursing program to hire a tutor and completion coach for their students.

The Nursing Department will be hosting a Nursing Information Session on Monday, March 19 at 5 p.m. in the George R. Johnson Cultural Heritage Center. Anyone planning to apply to the CSCC Nursing program this summer or fall should attend this Nursing Information Session. Members of the Nursing Admissions Committee will explain the admissions requirements and the admission process.

With deadlines approaching for paying property taxes, the Bradley County Trustee’s Office has announced tax-collection satellites for the next two Saturdays.

Because of their neighborhood locations, the satellite sites allow home- and property owners to pay their taxes closer to home.

Locations open this Saturday include Oak Grove, Hopewell, and Waterville Elementary Schools as well as Bradley Square Mall near the fountain. On February 24th, only the location at Bradley Square Mall near the fountain will be open.

All Saturday satellite locations will be open from 9 a.m. to noon. To pay at a satellite location, taxpayers must bring with them their tax statement, along with a personal check. No cash will be accepted.

Also on Saturday, Feb. 24, the Trustee’s Office will be open from 9 a.m. to noon to accept property tax payments.

The temporary site for the Trustee’s Office, which was established after the Bradley County Courthouse fire last year, is located at 1701 Keith Street. It is housed in the old SouthEast Bank building at the corner of Keith and 17th streets.
