Early voting is under way in Bradley County for the Presidential Preference Primary and County Primary Election. Early voting will continue Monday – Friday from 9AM until 6PM, and Saturday from 9AM until 4PM. The last day for early voting will be Tuesday, February 25th. Please be aware that there will be no early voting on Presidents’ Day, which is Monday, February 17th.
Early voting is available at the Bradley Square Mall, in the former Bath & Body Works location. If entering before the mall opens at 10AM, you will need to enter at the entrance next to OK Maguey Mexican Restaurant. Early voting is also available at 2375 McGrady Drive SE, which is the former BB&T bank between Advance Auto Parts and Walgreens. Finally, you may also vote at the Bradley County Election Commission office in the courthouse annex downtown.

Wednesday marked the first day of early voting in the State of Tennessee and Chattanooga’s first visit from a presidential hopeful this election season.
Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg took the day to speak with voters in the Scenic City as they prepare to cast their ballots.
Hundreds of Chattanooga voters were all ears Wednesday—or at least most were.
One protester who walked on stage just before Bloomberg came out had to be escorted out of the event after accusing him of trying to ‘buy’ the election.
The event continued with a few words from a prominent local minority leader, NAACP President Eleanor Woods, endorsing Bloomberg.
Once on stage, Bloomberg shared why in a last-minute bid, he decided to run for president.
During the rally, he referred to himself as the “un-Trump”, in an effort to highlight differences between he and President Donald Trump.

A family in Meigs County says they feel their lives are in danger after death threats were made by a Chattanooga man.
We spoke with Glenda Thompson, who tells us it all started when she defended a friend on social media. That’s when she says the man began to threaten her children.
The family showed us screenshots of the man saying things like “target acquired” referencing a student at Meigs South Elementary. This threat prompted the Director of Schools Clint Baker to order added security to the school for the time being.
As of now, the Meigs County Sheriffs Office, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office, and Chattanooga Police Department are investigating these claims. CPD says they have forwarded information to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) as well.
Meigs County says the man has no criminal past in the county.

A former elementary school principal from Cleveland, Tn., has been caught in a child sex sting.
Mark Avery Pickel, 51, made an initial appearance on Wednesday afternoon before Federal Magistrate Judge Chris Steger.
Pickel is charged with transportation of child pornography in interstate commerce, interstate travel with intent to engage in a sexual act with a minor, and coercion and enticement of a minor.
He remains incarcerated and has an arraignment date of Feb. 28.
Pickel was assistant principal at Polk County High School July 2004-June 2008 and principal at City Park Elementary School at Athens, Tn., July 2009-2011. He was principal of Vonore Elementary July 2013-June 2014.
He has been a funeral director at funeral homes in Cleveland.
