One family in Cleveland is urging others to be careful after they were targeted by a car wrapping scam this holiday season.

When Christopher Roberts and some of his family members received emails from what appeared to be big companies Aquafina and Sunkist, they thought they were signing up for an honest gig to earn some cash.

They received an E-Mail saying they could carry a decal on their car for five weeks and receive money to do so.

The scammers also urged them to deposit a check and wire money back.

They received checks between $2,000 and $4,000 attached to the letter but Roberts says when he went to the bank, they told him the check was not real.

Roberts said he and his family’s hopes were high this Christmas but they are using this experience to help others.

Officials recommend if someone has been scammed by “car wrap”, they should end all communication with them.

Critics are raising alarms about the age of Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant in north Alabama. The three-reactor plant opened 46 years ago on the banks of the Tennessee River and is still operating. The Decatur Daily reports that some people say equipment is being forced to generate power longer than originally intended. Watchdogs have also raised concerns about the growing quantity of spent nuclear fuel stored onsite. Both the Tennessee Valley Authority and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission say the public shouldn’t worry about the plant. They say management policies safeguard older equipment and that fuel storage is safe as long as operators follow rules.
