The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is searching for an inmate who escaped from the West Tennessee State Penitentiary and is a suspect in the death of an administrator for the state department of corrections.
The TBI says 44-year-old Curtis Ray Watson is a person-of-interest in the homicide of a Tennessee Department of Corrections employee. The TBI identifies the employee as 64-year-old Debra Johnson.
The TBI says Johnson was a 38-year veteran with the state departments of corrections.
The TBI says Johnson’s body was found inside her home on the grounds of the West Tennessee State Penitentiary around 11:30 a.m.
Watson is 5’11” tall and weighs 140 pounds. He has brown eyes and a long gray beard.
He is considered to be extremely dangerous. Watson is now on the TBI’s 10 Most Wanted list and a $2,500 reward is being offered in the case.
TDOC Commissioner David Parker says Watson is serving a 15-year sentence on a conviction of especially aggravated kidnapping out of Henry County. His sentence began in 2013 and was set to expire in 2025.

Tim Siniard reports: Friends of the Greenway will be hosting a Greenway Scavenger Hunt for everyone to come out and explore the Greenway.
The event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday.
The scavenger hunt will consist of teams that explore the greenway to solve clues, which will be related to specific areas located on the greenway.
There will be prizes for the most clues solved.

A Dalton man who is accused of biting off a “chunk” of his wife’s face, and beating her, has been indicted by a Whitfield County grand jury.
29 year old Santos Rumulo Puac-Ramirez was indicted on several charges, including aggravated battery, aggravated assault, and cruelty to children.
A four year old child was also struck during the incident.
Santos Rumulo Puac-Ramirez has been in the Whitfield County jail without bond since his arrest in May.
He’ll be arraigned on August 20th.
