A wrongful death lawsuit filed against Sheriff Eric Watson, Deputy Tiffany Goodwin, and Bradley County has been dismissed.

The suit was dismissed by U.S. District Court Judge Curtis L. Collier in a written ruling that the victim’s constitutional rights were not violated, and deemed Deputy Goodwin’s conduct as “reasonable”.

The dismissal stems from a court battle regarding a physical altercation between Deputy Tiffany Goodwin and deceased Allan L. White, III on July 28, 2015.

The judge’s dismissal can be appealed up to 30 days of the date of the dismissal.

From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Residents in Cleveland’s District 3 are welcoming of the coming improvements to Highway 60, but are simultaneously dreading how it will have possible unwelcome effects between the time construction starts and finishes.

Highway 60 was the centerpiece of the district’s community meeting, hosted by District 3 Councilman Tom Cassada, Tuesday night at Cleveland Middle School.

State Rep. Kevin Brooks told the Cleveland Daily Banner it is the No. 1 road project in Cleveland.

Fivas said it was his understanding TDOT would be scheduling a meeting in the near future “to address some questions and concerns.”

Cassada noted TDOT would be in attendance at the Cleveland MPO meeting scheduled for 10 a.m. on May 2.

The councilman also introduced City Engineer Jonathan Jobe, who described the engineering plans that are in the works to improve Candies Lane.

Residents also got a preview of the new Candy’s Creek Cherokee Elementary School and a presentation about the planned Greenway extension that will run through the district.

The next community meeting will be Thursday, 6:30 p.m., for District 2. It will be held at the College Hill Recreation Center.
