From Fox 17 in Nashville: A Tennessee bill being considered in the General Assembly seeks to lower the age for a concealed handgun carry permit.

The bill changes the age requirement to obtain an enhanced or concealed handgun carry permit from 21 to 18.

The proposed law does not allow anyone under 21 to transport or store a firearm or ammunition in their vehicle if the vehicle is on any school grounds, university grounds, college grounds, or any grounds of agencies that function on behalf of educational institutions.

Under the bill, only those 18 and older who have been honorably discharged from the military or are on active duty would be allowed to carry on educational institution grounds with the permit.
