From NewsChannel 9: A bill working its way through the Tennessee legislature will shield educators from being penalized for not using the preferred pronoun of a student.

Under the bill, teachers or other employees of a public school are not required to use a pronoun that is not consistent with the student’s biological sex.

The teacher or employee of the public school is insulated from civil liability and adverse employment action under the bill.

The bill passed the K-12 sub-committee on Tuesday.
