From the Chattanooga Times Free Press: According to federal health data, Tennessee and New Hampshire are the only two states where birth rates increased over the past five years in the United States.
Nationwide from 2016 through 2021, the number of births in America dropped by 7.3%.
The top and bottom states for birth rate growth were:
- New Hampshire, up 2.8%
- Tennessee, up 1.1%
- Alaska, down 17.4%
- Wyoming, down 15.7%
