From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

All site personnel remain employed at Wacker-Charleston as work continues following the Sept. 7 explosion.

Mary Beth Hudson, vice president of Polysilicon and plant manager, said in a release the company “is working carefully and diligently toward resuming production.”

She noted production will only resume at the plant after a thorough inspection has been completed, following conclusion of the third-party expert investigation and after all necessary repairs have been made.

She added Wacker employees are supporting repair efforts and other site activities during the interim period. Wacker-Charleston has removed the chemicals from the building where the hydrogen gas leak and explosion occurred.

Hudson said the physical damage to the building, which has now been stabilized, was not as significant as initially thought. The company is also continuing its ongoing air quality monitoring at the site and Hudson added those levels remain safe.
