Autumn Hughes reports with four days remaining in the early voting period ahead of the Nov. 6 election, Bradley County voters have come out in record numbers.

Speaking after the polls closed Saturday afternoon, Bradley County Administrator of Elections Fran Green said 16,258 voters have cast ballots so far. On Saturday alone, 1,285 people voted.

Green said she checked Bradley County’s voting records dating back to 1998 and found the highest previous turnout for a midterm election was in 2006, when 16,087 early votes were cast.

Green said at least 50 percent of Bradley County voters typically vote early. There are 63,901 active voters in the county.  

The early voting period continues now through Nov. 1, Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Three early voting locations are available for the public’s convenience:  

• Bradley County Election Commission Office, 155 Broad St. N.W., in downtown Cleveland.  
• Bradley Square Mall, 200 Paul Huff Parkway N.W., Suite 114, beside Stadium BBQ & Grill.  
• In the Planet Fitness shopping center off APD-40.

Reports Sunday night indicate that President Trump will appear in Chattanooga at a campaign rally on Sunday, November 4th. The rally will be in support of US Senate candidate congresswoman Marsha Blackburn, in her bid against former Governor Phil Bredesen.

No word yet on the location of the Trump campaign rally in Chattanooga.

And finally…

Local awareness organization ATS the bridge partnered with local and area law enforcement Saturday, and participated in the drug enforcement agency’s drug take back. The drug take back was set up at Colony Square in front of the Town House Bake Shop. ATS The Bridge board chairman Scott Elam said that seven barrels full of prescription drugs were collected, representing over 260 pounds.  Find out more about the organization at atsthebridge.org
