From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

On Wednesday, Nov. 29, the Lee University School of Nursing will conduct a mass casualty emergency drill, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Nursing students and faculty will participate in response to an active shooter mass casualty drill to help nursing students learn how to treat life-threatening wounds in a high-stress situation.

This is the second time the SON has held a mass casualty drill to help equip their students for real-life situations they could encounter in their field.

The drill will take place in the School of Nursing. During the drill, there will be various emergency vehicles present around the SON building.

Also from The Banner…

The holiday season tends to be slow for the involvements of city and county governments. This seems to be the trend for Monday’s Cleveland City Council session.

There is only one presentation scheduled for the 1 p.m. work session, with Bradley County Veterans Affairs Officer Joe Davis scheduled to visit.

Davis reportedly plans to approach the Council concerning the possibility of a new name for the city’s square on First Street.

Several veterans, and veteran organizations, have suggested that First Street Square be named for the city’s namesake, Col. Benjamin Cleveland.

Cleveland was a soldier in the Revolutionary War, and later served in the North Carolina House of Commons and the North Carolina Senate.

Cleveland County, N.C., and our city are named in his honor, Tennessee making that recognition back in 1842.

There are no other items on Monday’s work session agenda, but Council members will have the opportunity to provide reports from their respective districts, or from the city at large.

From WRCB Channel 3…

Authorities have found the body of a man who disappeared from the Snow Hill Road area on Friday.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office discovered James “Frank” Franklin Gray in a wooded area near his home on Saturday.

No foul play is suspected.

The Hamilton County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine his exact cause of death.

And finally…

It’s that time of the month again — the labor force estimates for October are in! The seasonally adjusted US unemployment rate for October was 4.1%, which is down from 4.2% one month ago, and down from 4.8% one year ago. The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for Tennessee was 3%, which is the same as one month ago, and down from 5% one year ago.

Moving closer to home, the unemployment rate for Bradley County was 2.9%, up from 2.7% in September, and down from 4.7% one year ago. For Polk County, the unemployment rate was 3.6%, up from 3.3% in August, and down from 6.1% one year ago.
