Evie West CPD Public Information Officer- An elderly couple, with health issues, was found by their son at 11:20 a.m. Sunday, deceased in their residence on Springhill Drive. It appears to be murder-suicide, but the investigation is still in the preliminary stages . We will keep you up to date as information is available. Director James E. Bradford, Jr. Communications Division- Early on Saturday, the Cleveland/Bradley County 911 Communications Center received a call reporting a black vehicle shooting a gun while traveling on I-75. A patrol deputy later observed the vehicle traveling on Georgetown Rd, and initiated a traffic stop. When contact was made with the driver, the deputy observed him wearing a gun holster on his hip. While investigating a passenger who was occupying the vehicle stated to deputies a gun was fired at the ground by the driver because a vehicle was driving recklessly around them on the interstate. Further investigation led to the discovery of a gun inside the vehicle. Neil Edward Irby, Jr., 18, from Satsuma, AL, has been charged with Reckless Endangerment. Channel 3- Bledsoe, Polk and Sequatchie counties were added to the list of counties under a Commissioner of Agriculture burn ban. This brings the total to 12 Tennessee counties: Bledsoe, Claiborne, Cumberland, Hamilton, Jefferson, Loudon, Marion, Monroe, Polk, Robertson, Sequatchie and Sevier. A violation of a burn ban is considered reckless burning and is punishable as a Class A misdemeanor which carries a fine of $2,500 and/or up to 11 months 29 days in jail. Local – Though they came up a little short of test drivers, But Don Ledford Automotive still raised over $8,500 for smart homes for veterans on Friday. The local car dealership had hoped to raise $10,000 to help the Building for America’s Bravest organization construct “smart homes” for this nation’s most severely injured service members. To raise that dollar amount, 500 or more test drivers were needed to participate in the event. They were 430 test drivers, but GMC will donate $20 for every driver, so we actually raised $8,600. I still think that is great.”said Debbie Ledford Melton, owner of the dealership.
