The National Weather Service Storm Prediction Center has placed parts of our listening area, including parts of Bradley County, into the “enhanced” risk area for severe thunderstorm development today. A strong cold front will be moving into the area today, producing showers and thunderstorms across our area.
Some of these storms could become severe, with the primary concern being damaging straight-line winds, large hail, and tornadoes in some areas. These storms are expected to move through our area sometime this afternoon or evening, depending on the timing of development.

Cleveland Police Chief Mark Gibson endorsed candidate Steve Lawson in the Bradley County Sheriff’s race Saturday night at a rally for Lawson. Gibson said he normally stays out of politics but “this time is different, and I think it’s time we stand up”. Gibson said he had worked with Steve Lawson for many years and knew him as a man of integrity and confidence. He went on to say “we need a leader that is beyond reproach, a leader that is in service to the citizens, not himself.” Bradley County Sheriff Eric Watson had no comment Saturday night.

Cleveland Police have identified the man who was found dead by a ditch on Saturday.
Police have identified the man as Jeffery Donovan.
Dispatch received a call around 10:30 am that a man had been discovered near 6th Street SE and Sheeler Street SE.
Officials said that no foul play was involved. They said the man crashed his bike and hit a pole along with some large rocks in the ditch.

Three local candidates with law enforcement, emergency communications and/or management experience are taking the next step in the process in the search for a new director of the Bradley County Emergency Communications District.
The candidates, in alphabetical order, are Jon Collins, Jerry L. Johnson Jr. and Sherri Maxfield. They were selected for interviews by the Bradley County/Cleveland 911 Director Search Committee from a field of seven applicants.
The interview questions will be based on the advertised qualifications for the job, with candidates expected to share their knowledge and experience in several areas. Among the topics interviewees will be questioned are their education, management styles, financial experience, technical questions related to 911 systems, and how the 911 center should work with other agencies.
Following the search committee interviews, the top tier of candidates will be recommended to the full 911 Board for follow-up interviews.
