From the Cleveland Daily Banner…

Autumn Hughes reports: The early voting period reached its halfway point Saturday, with nearly twice as many Bradley Countians casting their ballots compared to the same time period in 2016.

According to Fran Green, Bradley County’s administrator of elections, Saturday was Day 8 of early voting; so far, 4,617 ballots have been cast locally.

In 2016, which saw the same races up for vote as the current election cycle, there were 2,661 votes cast on Day 8, she said.

In addition, Green said her office has mailed out 972 absentee ballots for the Aug. 6 election.

Green said July 30 is the last day to request an absentee ballot; completed ballots must be returned to the Bradley County Election Commission Office by Aug. 6. Absentee ballots must arrive to the election commission by mail. A U.S. Post Office location is across the hall from the election commission, in the Bradley County Courthouse Annex.

A registered voter may obtain an absentee ballot request form by:

  • Picking one up at the election commission office, 155 Broad St. N.W., Cleveland, TN 37311;
  • Calling the office at (423) 728-7115 to request one;
  • Requesting in writing; or
  • Requesting by email at bradley.commission@tn.gov, or by fax at (423) 728-7116.

Anyone requesting an absentee ballot must fall under one of the categories listed at bradleyelections.com/absentee-voting/
